My name is Dana Bearror.
I'm a professional musician currently residing in the
Winston-Salem, NC area(between Raleigh and Charlotte).
In 2004, I moved here from Fort Lauderdale, FL.
I perform solo on acoustic guitar/vocals (click here for more info)
and also play bass (upright and/or electric, all styles) with several bands, duos and trios including
Mr. Microphone : The Live Karaoke Band!
I began studying the violin at age 8, played clarinet and percussion in Concert band throughout middle school and picked up the guitar and bass at age 12. In 1989, I entered Dillard School of Performing Arts and discovered my love for the upright bass. I was accepted to the University of Miami School of Music in 1991 and performed with some of the world's best jazz and symphonic ensembles.
Since graduating in 1995, I have performed, toured
and/or recorded extensively with numerous artists including :
Jerry Vale, Ira Sullivan, Melton Mustafa, Red Rodney,
Duffy Jackson, Bruce Hornsby, Red Rodney,
Little Anthony and the Imperials, Joe Piscopo,
"Big Mama Blue", the Peter Graves Orchestra(featuring members of the Jaco Pastorius Worth of Mouth band) and Bricqmen.
I also have an extensive background in musical theatre, including productions of
Dreamgirls, My Fair Lady, Nunsense, Li'l Abner, Jesus Christ Superstar and many others.
I teach music theory, guitar, bass (upright and/or electric) and piano.
Graduating from the renowned University of Miami School of Music,
I have 35+ years of teaching experience.
Some of my students have gone on to perform in West Region Orchestra and Jazz Band,
All State Orchestra and Jazz Band, major in music in
college, perform professionally and work in major recording studios.
